It's unusual as it has grown spontaneously. The tallest quiver trees are two to three centuries old. The forest was declared a national monument of <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Namibia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Namibia</span></a> in 1995.</p><p>Visited the beautiful country in 2019. For many years, skeleton trees like this were a common feature of the UK landscape.<br>Dutch elm disease, which is caused by bark beetles, arrived here in the late 1960s, and by 1980 most of our mature elms were dead.
